ARTIST’S BIOGRAPHY
Rahila Zeeshan is a visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia, noted for her use of bold colour, layered compositions, and an experimental, process-driven approach. Working across acrylic, ink, watercolour, and collage, she creates dynamic works that evolve intuitively from observation, memory, and lived experience. Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, Rahila holds a degree in Textile Design, a foundation that informs her refined attention to pattern, texture, and visual rhythm. Her multidisciplinary practice spans nature-inspired imagery, surrealist narratives, expressive cityscapes, and contemporary interpretations of Pakistani art.
Why Create? “To be who I want to be, however and whenever I wish to be.”
What prompts an artwork? “ Hmm, a unique idea that I may have been contemplating for a while, a new art form I just explored, or a subject I am instantly drawn to in the moment. There is always a reason… ”
How do I choose the material? “I choose my materials based on the mood and movement I want to express. Acrylics on canvas allow me to experiment with bold strokes and layered textures, while watercolour offers a calming fluidity that encourages me to loosen up and trust the natural flow of the medium.”
